I remember when this monitor was announced back in 2017, and yet, here we are 18 months later and it's finally released lol. I went with the AW3418DW, a 34" – 3440×1440, 120Hz, IPS and G-Sync display with a 1900R curve and 4ms response time, and it only set me back $800. The ASUS PG35VQ, however, is a 35" – 3440×1440, 200Hz, VA and G-Sync HDR display with an 1800R curve and 4ms response time. So, you're paying an extra $1,700 for an extra monitor inch, +80Hz, same resolution, same response time, less curve, HDR support, and with the monitor being a VA panel, the colours aren't going to be as great as an IPS panel. I am sorry, but this monitor is (in my opinion) a complete ripoff for $2,500.

Why is it VA instead of IPS? I thought IPS was better for gaming

I don't really need 180 Hz refresh rate. I'd be fine with less. I'd much rather have IPS, and more size and 3840×1600 which would make a noticeable difference for productivity work (perfect for fitting three A4 sized documents side by side.) Like the new LG 38-incher.

16:26 Turn off local back lighting to eliminate haloing and ghosting. That's what Linus did.

Happy to see HDR making gaming monitors useful for content creation. Used to have to compromise color heavily to get the refresh rate. 12bit drool. I just need IPS 4K 32in+ variant to upgrade. Does this panel not have MPRT?

Wtf!!! I have the PG27UQ. I was dying for an RGB ROG logo on the base. Of course it does red only. Now this πŸ˜ͺ. Can I somehow mod my 27UQ to have RGB? If so, how?

    PAUL,
144Hz is the maximum refresh if using 4:4:4, 10bpc. That's kind of important to mention.
